New Arizona LOWFI bureau chief

Hello Arizona LOWFI enthusiasts. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dee Andrew and I am your new Arizona LOWFI bureau chief. It is my hope that I can keep you informed on all things Fortean in Arizona. I have only been living in Arizona for 5 years now but, my husband David was born here. I have been enjoying learning about the rich history and people of this beautiful state, and of course all the strange things that happen around us.

Just recently I read a UFO report from the Phoenix area of an object that had 1 steady light on each end with blinking lights on it’s underside and, of an undetermined size. A few days later my husband was at work talking with a co-worker who told how he and his wife were heading north on highway 51 a few evenings before and, saw an object matching the same description from the UFO report. His wife had a cell phone camera and was going to take a picture of it. Since it was heading towards them she waited until it was almost overhead. As they looked at the object, to their surprise, it turned out to be a small airplane with flashing advertising on the underside of the wings. So this goes to show that sometimes things are strange and unexplainable and sometime things are explainable but odd.

I have a wide and varied interest in the strange and unusual but my primary interest is the UFO phenomenon and it‘s history. I host an internet radio program called Eye to the Sky: They UFO Synopsis. Sometimes I will stray from the UFO topic on my program and discuss cryptozoology, out of place artifacts, and archeological mysteries.

So come with me and together we will travel the road of this strange Fortean world we live in.

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

Between 9/30/1946 and 1/9/09, there have been 1,853 documented sightings of UFOs / UAPs in Arizona (thanks, National UFO Reporting Center!

-The actual number could be closer to 6,500 as a majority of witnesses are reluctant to formally report their experiences for fear of ridicule or other unwanted attention.

Understandable.

Who wants to be snickered at by Barbie and Ken on the six O’Clock news?

Others do not hesitate to report the anomalous… and I find them admirable.

Cym at Natural Nomad http://natural-nomad.blogspot.com/ had an interesting view of the Catalinas on 1/10/09. Seems she caught an image of something anomalous lingering near Mt Lemmon Observatory. My first impression had it looking like a digital artifact. Second look in hi res had me wondering… and hooked.
