Vista Viking Festival

Helmeted reenactors show off their fighting skills on the battlefield at this annual celebration of Scandinavian culture. Wannabe warriors demonstrate their Viking prowess by throwing axes, tossing heavy logs, and letting loose their most blood-curdling battle cries. There’s also a smorgasbord of traditional foods to sample, along with live music, Nordic arts and crafts, and kids’ activities.

VIKING ACTIVITIES: Do you have the strength? All gather around the always-popular Viking Log Toss. Each year men, women, and children sign up to demonstrate their Viking prowess at the Viking Log Toss Competition. For those brave enough, one can try their hand at axe throwing, the Viking way. Back by popular demand are—the Fiske (Fish) Fling and the Battle Cry Competition.

VIKING VILLAGE: Scheduled Viking Battles and an authentic reproduction of an early Viking encampment are featured. Witness Testimony UFOs and Nuclear Weapons Bases—donations needed!

Former U.S. Air Force Captain Robert Salas and UFO researcher Robert Hastings are currently organizing a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to address the vital issue of UFO incursions at U.S. nuclear weapons sites within the United States over the past six decades. The purpose of the event is to focus worldwide media attention on the reality and importance of the situation.

To date, more than 100 former or retired U.S. Air Force personnel – once trusted to operate or guard weapons of mass destruction – have come forward and revealed ongoing UFO surveillance of, and occasional interference with, our nuclear weapons. This information alters the historical perspective on the nuclear arms race and much more. The fact that the Pentagon and the CIA have kept the truth from the public for so long is in itself mind-boggling.

At the press conference, scheduled for September 27th, 2010, seven ex-USAF personnel, including Mr. Salas, author of “Faded Giant”, will discuss their nuke related UFO experiences. Mr. Hastings will briefly summarize his 37 years of research into the UFO-Nuke phenomenon, and then introduce the witnesses. Mr. Salas will then offer concluding remarks.

The second edition of Beyond Eden will be hosted by the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park this coming October. Beyond Eden is a multi-gallery event celebrating the new contemporary art scene in Los Angeles. The public is invited to attend this special event and admission is free.

After the overwhelming success of last year’s Beyond Eden exhibition which drew over 5,000 people over the course of the weekend, the organizers are keeping the focus of the event on the new contemporary art movement. This genre of art has been building momentum and a patron base in Los Angeles for the past several decades and is finally starting to receive mainstream recognition from major institutions and publications the world over.

Beyond Eden will showcase the works of over a half dozen galleries and will be held inside the beautiful confines of the historic Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery during the weekend of October 9th and 10th with an opening night celebration planned for Saturday, October 9th. Participating galleries include Carmichael Gallery, C.A.V.E. Gallery, Copro Gallery, Crewest, La Luz De Jesus, LeBasse Projects, and Thinkspace.

Beyond Eden will also feature the presentation of a lifetime achievement award to the one and only Robert Williams. In addition the event will also feature live painting demonstrations throughout the gallery alongside special installations from local street artist Shark Toof and Australian artistic duo Dabs Myla. Rounding out this event is a special showcase celebrating underground art event Cannibal Flower’s 10 Year Anniversary.

Founded in 1951, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery is a historic 10,000 square foot facility located on the sprawling grounds of Olive Hill in the Barnsdall Art Park. The park overlooks the city of Los Angeles and is also home to the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Hollyhock House and Arts Complex. Under the Department of Cultural Affairs, the LAMAG is the premier city-run gallery that focuses on contemporary art, particularly the work of living Southern California artists.

An Afternoon with contactee Stan Romanek

Saw this guy in Laughlin last February… quite a story although at the end of his presentation, a prominent local ufologist who was sitting at our table, leaned over to me and said, “if he’s lying, I’m going to kill him.” His appearance is at present time tentative, and if it happens, it’s happening in conjunction with Yvonne Smith’s group, CERO—the Close Encounters Resource Organization. Some people are on the fence about Stan, and his decades’ worth of copious video and audio documentation, but his is an interesting case, no matter how you slice it (and IT includes the infamous “alien in the window” footage used to promote the Denver ET Ballot Inititiative.)

Bay Area UFO Expo

It’s a bit of a haul for us Angelenos, but the Bay Area UFO Expo is the Golden State’s largest UFO event. This year, it’s being produced by treasure hunter Dan Dillman of the X Fest… last year’s was apparently the best attended UFO conference in the world. This year’s line up includes Nick Pope, Giorgio Tsoukalos (of teevee’s “Ancient Aliens”), author Leslie Kean, and Richard Dolan. “UFOs, Non-Human Encounters, 2012, Crop Circles, Government Conspiracies, Ancient Mysteries and much, much more… If you are interested in UFO’s, ET’s, Reptoids, Earth Changes, Crash Retrievals, Chem-Trails and Conspiracies, the Bay Area UFO Expo always guarantees an entertaining and mind expanding experience!” I think I read there’s also going to be a Halloween party, but I might just be hallucinating. LOWFI IN LONDON!

Also… it appears I will be flying to England at the end of October to deliver Finnegan to my dear friend, Mick. Brighton, to be exact, but I hope to spend some time in London and Birmingham, the birthplace of heavy metal (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and half of Led Zeppelin all hail from Birmingham.) I seriously lack funds but hope to interview a number of old school Forteans while I am there. Any tips, suggestions, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
