Description:
My brother and I were out looking around our parts for some supposed parnormals in Albuquerque. As we were headed home to the east of us we saw an extremely bright light coming towards us meaing it was traveling west for at the most 10 seconds then it disappeared. about 5 seconds later it reappeared so far east of us again and instantly disappeared. We wanted to retrace our steps and see if that happened again as were headed west it reappeared so far in the east to where i believe was as far as gallup. it would appear bright then dim then have ovals around it and so many different appearances. I still have the chills. What was this. It was so short we never even thought or got the chance to get pictures.

Blog coverage of Roswell begins
Sergeant Saucer has the first of what I am sure will be many posts about the festival here. I am not sure the true identity of Sergeant Saucer. I had thought he was Timothy Green Beckley, but I guess not.
I will not be attending Roswell, but I will keep you up to date on things via other blogs and local news. I am looking forward to meeting up with Rich and Karyn Dolan while they are here in Albuquerque though, that should be fun! Of course, anyone that is going to be blogging Roswell — if I don’t know about your blog already, email me and give me the url. My email is LesleyinNM at gmail . com. That is suppose to foil bots looking for email addies — not sure it totally works.

I am a Mufon member and my friend, (*name deleted–SGonzalez/CMS), is visiting me from Reno. Tonight we were outside enjoying the warm weather – I was looking west, trying to focus my binoculars on a jet heading north. (*name deleted–SGonzalez/CMS)was looking east and saw the following: At first I thought it was a star because it was stationary for about 20 seconds. Then I noticed it was shimmering off the moonlight like an odd type of metallic material. While tapping my friend’s arm, trying to get her attention, the disc horizontally starting moving towards the north. Right about then I got my friend’s attention and we both saw the same object take off as in hyperspeed to the north. We both agree the object was about 5 miles from us at an altitude of 5,000′. Given this was my first UFO sighting I felt excitement and goosebumps.

Musicians drop Roswell UFO Festival shows
OMG! Are we sure the festival can continue without Billy Ray Cyrus and whoever the fuck Phil Vassar is?
ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) – Organizers of the Roswell UFO Festival say musicians Billy Ray Cyrus and Phil Vassar have canceled plans to perform this year.
Festival chairwoman Renee Roach blames recent publicity about a city decision to review the allocation of lodger’s tax funds to fund future UFO festivals.
Roach says calls have come in from all over the world. Prospective visitors are asking if this year’s event is still on.
It is. The festival runs June 30 through July 5.
Mayor Del Jurney said in May that city officials wanted to make sure the funds were being spent appropriately. Now, Jurney says he’s surprised by the reaction. He says he never told anyone the city doesn’t want to hold the festival.
The UFO Festival Committee has a $150,000 budget for this summer’s event.

Description:
I was experiencing a very sleepless night so at midnight I went to the kitchen to get a drink of water and was going to take a sleeping pill, but remembered I had to get up early and didn’t want the hangover of a sleeping pill. It was too late as the clock on the stove read 12:03. As I was drinking the water I walked into a dining room which has glass doors to the back yard (North) and noticed a bright starlike object with yellow and red shimmering lights sort of hovering over my back wall about the middle of a pasture which backs up to our property. It didn’t move for quite a while. I ran to get binoculars but could find only opera glasses which weren’t of much help. At that time I watched it begin to move very slowly toward the west. I ran to look for binoculars elsewhere and looked out another window. About that time it disappeared. It just blinked off! Wne I first saw it I knew that it was not one of the lights that one can see from those windows. I thought, uh-oh. That might be a UFO. I mentioned to a neighbor today that I almost called her to see something but didn’t because I didn’t want to awaken them. she said it would have been all right as they were just getting home about midnight. I told her what I had seen and she replied, “OMG! I think we saw the same thing coming home. I asked the girls in the car, “What is THAT?” She described it as having red and yellow lights too but thought it was much larger than i did. I couldn’t go to sleep until around 3:00 AM June 17, 2010. I felt very uneasy and was afraid to go to sleep even though I did begin to feel tired. I don’t remember dreaming after that.

The Man Who Fell to Earth
I love The Man Who Fell to Earth and just finished watching it for the about the zillionith time.
Although, basically the story is still good and doesn’t seem totally hokey after all these years — I still like all the NM filming and very vintage shots even more. For example there is a shot of David Bowie by the Rio Grande (here in Albuquerque), it looks similar to now, but there are no houses or buildings in the shot. You also get shots of Civic Plaza in Albuquerque, Fenton Lake in Jemez, Madrid and just about 3 minutes from my house at the cement plant in Tijeras. During the day the cement plant doesn’t look that great, but at night when it has all those lights – I was told as a child and partly believed that it was a castle. OK, at least I wanted to believe.
So if you want a story filmed in NM, about an alien that came to earth and was totally screwed (so far as why he came) this is the story for you!
Also, it was during filming The Man Who Fell to Earth in NM that David Bowie saw a UFO!

Actor Dennis Hopper remembered at NM service
RANCHOS DE TAOS, N.M. (AP) – Jack Nicholson, Val Kilmer were among the actors who mixed Wednesday in New Mexico with dozens of Dennis Hopper’s relatives, friends and Taos locals to remember the two-time Oscar nominee at a memorial Mass.
Hopper’s simple wooden coffin was ushered into the adobe chapel at historic San Francisco de Asis church in Ranchos de Taos.
Hopper, who was twice nominated for Oscars and earned a star this year on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, died Saturday at age 74 at his home in Los Angeles. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009.
A private burial was to follow the service.
Hopper first came to New Mexico in 1969 to scout locations for the iconic film “Easy Rider.” He lived in Taos for 12 years through the early 1980s.
