Rez monsters: Bizarre creatures and spirits attract interest on Navajo Nation

FARMINGTON — A smashed watermelon is spread out in the middle of a dirt road in Upper Fruitland, a community where everything from giant pterodactyls to walking lizards to furry children have been reported.
The watermelon happens to be for Bigfoot, another one of the inhabitants of the bucolic town on the outskirts of the Navajo reservation.
“My grandma left it for him,” says Felicia Frank, who lives nearby. “I said, “Grandma, you’re feeding Bigfoot?’”
Down the road, Frank points out where several people have sighted the legendary, hairy being, along with other odd species.
“Things like this happen all the time on the rez,” she says, noting that it is not just in Upper Fruitland that these extraordinary sightings occur.
It’s just a matter of getting people to talk about it.

The ‘Night Stalker’: Terrible Being Torments Family
JC and his team were contacted on Friday 9/21 in reference to a series of disturbing incidents occurring at a residence in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. The family have experience loud clawing sounds and indiscernible growls coming from outside their home. The daughter has also endured clawing outside her bedroom window as well as unexplained activity within the home. She has awoke to claw marks on her back and has noticed items moved in her bedroom. There have been several attempts to confront this being but in each instance it has eluded the efforts.

Unknown Animal Encounter – Cibola National Forest, NM
This is kind of a scary story because it happened not that far from my house, certainly near enough for an animal like that to roam to this area.

Cryptid Lizard in the Four Corners
As I was telling JC earlier, we saw a lizard very much like this drawing. It wasn’t as big as the one described by the witness which was said to be 20 lbs. The one we saw was probably under 5 lbs and only a bit over a foot long. This was many years ago and I had no interest in Cryptozoology at the time. I just assumed it was some species of NM lizard that I hadn’t come across before. However, in recent years I have found that there seems to be no known species in NM that looks like what we saw.
We saw it out on Santa Ana Pueblo which is nowhere near where this other sighting took place. There was a huge rainstorm and we had pulled off the highway and decided to watch the storm which was quite fantastic. We had parked on a side road with no houses or buildings around (there was absolutely no traffic) and when the storm was over we noticed a natural arroyo that had water rushing through it not far from the road. We got out of the car to check it out and there was this lizard and he seemed very pissed off that we were disturbing his water fun! He ran towards us on his hind legs and was puffing himself up, his headdress seemed to be flaring. If I am recalling right, he was also making a noise that sounded like spitting. He had very pretty light reflecting skin, almost like holographic rainbow paper, but not that bright and shiny. Perhaps he was someone’s exotic pet that they had dumped there or there is a population of undiscovered species of lizard in NM? This was before digital cameras and cell phones, so I had no camera with me. :-(

“The Lordsburg Door”
Amateur paranormal investigator, and Lordsburg resident, Ramon Ortiz has toiled the past 15 years photographing and videotaping unexplained phenomena above this tiny borough. Much of Ortiz’s work showcases what appears to be technology beyond human capabilities. Enigmatic craft reportedly “hover, divide, flash and even change shape in mid-air” over this region
So, what’s causing the mass irregularity inherent to this neglected rest stop on the way to Arizona?
According to locals, the source of the strangeness is simply a door. Somewhere on the outskirts of town, a portal between dimensions purportedly exists.

BTW, if Ramon Ortiz happens to drop by this site I would love to hear from him. I can be emailed at LesleyinNM(at)gmail.com
