Rez monsters: Bizarre creatures and spirits attract interest on Navajo Nation

FARMINGTON — A smashed watermelon is spread out in the middle of a dirt road in Upper Fruitland, a community where everything from giant pterodactyls to walking lizards to furry children have been reported.
The watermelon happens to be for Bigfoot, another one of the inhabitants of the bucolic town on the outskirts of the Navajo reservation.
“My grandma left it for him,” says Felicia Frank, who lives nearby. “I said, “Grandma, you’re feeding Bigfoot?’”
Down the road, Frank points out where several people have sighted the legendary, hairy being, along with other odd species.
“Things like this happen all the time on the rez,” she says, noting that it is not just in Upper Fruitland that these extraordinary sightings occur.
It’s just a matter of getting people to talk about it.

The 1994 Abiquiu, New Mexico Case
In August of 1996 I received a letter from a man in Aliquiu, New Mexico, concerning his experience. His hopes were that someone else had seen or heard of something similar. None of the literature he had read seemed to fit with what he saw that day. The following are his own words about that day:I am a thirty-five year old single father of two. I am presently employed as a security officer. On the evening of July 8, 1994, I had an observational encounter of two strange creatures and one seemingly captive human in the Santa Fe National Forest near Abiquiu, New Mexico.I should say at the outset that I was terribly reluctant to write or tell anyone about this. First; because I have a normal healthy fear of ridicule and second; because it was not the typical “alien encounter” that I have since read so much about. Two years of bad dreams, frustration and doubting my own sanity won out.I’ve never seen a UFO or anything in the sky that I could not readily identify. I’ve never had “missing time” or any memories that I could not place as to time or content. When I observed the “creatures” at no time did I feel “controlled” or under any kind of mental or physical duress. On that date, at around 7:30 p.m., I was about twenty minutes into what had become for me a regular afternoon hike through the hills and arroyos to the south of Abiquiu Village. I had stopped to take some water and get my bearings. I estimate that I was about three-quarters of a mile south of US 84.
The ‘Night Stalker’: Terrible Being Torments Family
JC and his team were contacted on Friday 9/21 in reference to a series of disturbing incidents occurring at a residence in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. The family have experience loud clawing sounds and indiscernible growls coming from outside their home. The daughter has also endured clawing outside her bedroom window as well as unexplained activity within the home. She has awoke to claw marks on her back and has noticed items moved in her bedroom. There have been several attempts to confront this being but in each instance it has eluded the efforts.

Summary of findings relative to an object found (in 2008) in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico – PART 1
August 16, 2012
Courtesy of Greg Valdez, the late Gabe Valdez and Howard Eliason, Ph.D. – partially released info, from the files of the late Gabe Valdez.
This summary is not the product of a committee nor is it a consensus of opinion of the person who found the object, those who made the on-site visitation, or those who conducted the follow up examination.
It was developed by one of the individuals participating in the follow up examination.
Summarized are initial observations, findings, and speculative thoughts relative to an object resembling a glass billiard ball that was discovered on private property by a resident west of Tierra Amarilla, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico.
In order to respect the wishes regarding privacy and confidentiality of individuals, the identities of participants will not be given at this time.
This document was generated by H. Eliason, Ph.D., who visited the site three times and was one of two individuals who conducted the follow up examination.
It is hoped that this summary will generate sufficient interest which results in rigorous scientific enquiry of the object being discussed.
Background information
Approximately one year ago, in 2008, the resident observed “strange lights” (lights making a straight line or blinking, and orbs) as well as military aircraft over the property.
On one occasion while walking in the general direction where these lights and craft were spotted, the resident noticed a reflective object sticking slightly exposed above the g it, round.
Sweeping the ground away, it was easily removed from the earth, and was roughly the size of a billiard ball, with a glassy smooth surface and was purple in color.
For approximately five months, the resident kept the object in the house, and over the course of time developed a very strong emotional attachment to it.
“Just by holding it, it calmed me down whenever I was stressed”, indicated the person.
During one visit to this resident’s house, retired New Mexico State Patrol officer, Gabe Valdez, was shown the object, and upon initial inspection he recognized it as being similar to those encountered in the 1980s at another location in northern New Mexico.
As was the case in the 1980s, he suspected that the object before him had also been dropped by low flying aircraft.
Because of the involvement of multiple police departments and bystanders at that time, he was unable to find out what, if anything, was done in the way of follow up analysis.
Being uncertain of the characteristics or properties of the object, the retired police officer, cautioned the resident to remove it from the house, for fear of potential contamination.
His suspicions stemmed from his part experiences dealing with numerous cattle mutilations while in the course of his official police duties.
Radiation and other forms of contamination was present back then, and he wanted the resident to be cautious until more could be learned about the object.
Trusting in Gabe’s direction, the resident removed the object from the house and placed it outside in the umbrella hole of a picnic table near the front door.
“I hated to do it, but Gabe said to get it out of the house, so I did what he told me” indicated the resident.
The object remained outside for five-six months, and all that time the resident continued to feel a deep connection with it.
There was never any fear associated with the object whatsoever.
Photographed marked “Table” is where it was placed.
To this resident, the object is not just something that was found in a field and stuck on a shelf.
On the contrary, there is a very strong feeling of attachment toward this object.
Not the sort of attachment one might have for a favorite piece of jewelry for example.
When the resident spoke about the object to the writer of this summary, it was evident that the subject evoked a positive emotional reaction.
As we will see in this summary, the same reaction was apparently generated in two other people who have interacted with the object.
In the rest of the report, the object of interest will be referred to as “the globe”.
Saturday, August 22, 2009
On this day, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Gabe Valdez returned to the property, accompanied by four other individuals, to observe the globe, and conduct preliminary testing for radiation.
Including the visitors and those already on the property, eight people were present.
Some in the group were reluctant to handle the globe for fear of contamination, however, it was tested with a Geiger counter and showed no signs of radiation, nor did it register on a magnetometer.
It should be noted that when Gabe Valdez held a compass near the globe, it produced slight movement, while the magnometer did not register anything.
The first noticeable distinguishing mark was a protrusion of material from the smooth surface of the globe.
The protrusion appeared to be part of the surface of the globe and formed four uniform circular opaque rings.
The protrusion had height, and the surface of the circular rings created groves and were rough to the touch.
The rough surface of the protrusion could be felt with the fingers, and was so noticeable, that when held while photographed, it was positioned so that it was at the top center of the globe in order to serve as a reference point for vertical.
The protrusion is clearly visible at the top of the globe in photographs 1, 2, 2A, 2B.
The Field Observation Sketch relative to the globe was drawn by the person who handled the globe while photographed on site and then participated in the follow up examination three days later.
It shows that the 4 lines had an estimated height of .010 inch off the surface of the globe, and the 3 concentric groves estimated to have a dept of .0050 nch.
The 3 groves reduced in size roughly one half inch in diameter at the outside point.
See Field Observation Sketch.
It should be noted that the resident, (the owner of the globe) had not noticed the protrusions or the lines prior to that day, although a neighbor who had considerable familiarity with it said they were noticeable one week before.
One member of the group discounted the possibility of anything unusual about the globe, and said it was simply a large marble that had probably been lost long ago.
The clearly visible protrusions with circular lines were offered as proof that it had been machined, since the lines indicated where it had been extruded, or removed from the machine that manufactured it.
Points to be stressed are: the globe had a protrusion with circular lines that were observed at th site, felt by some participants, and are visible in photographs taken at the site.
During the time on the site, the Geiger counter and magnetometer were turned on as the group made its way around.
No significant readings were generated on the Geiger counter, and the magnetometer did not register at all.
Among the 79 photographs taken on site by one individual was of a small white plane that flew high overhead,a nd random shots of the sky even though nothing was seen or heard.
Past experience has shown that sophisticated craft appear in photographs taken with a digital camera, while not visible with the unaided eyes.
When the photograph was later enlarged there were four unidentified objects. Photographs #3,4.
It was agreed that the globe would be loaned to two of the participants for further analysis at a location off site.
It was placed in a tissue box on top of soft tissues and placed in a thick steel lined portable safe which was then locked and placed in Gabe Valdez’s car trunk.
The locked safe was transferred 45 minutes later to the vehicle of one of the individuals who would be assessing it closer.
It was then taken immediately to a private residence a short driving distance away, whre a closer inspection would occur.
It remained a that location locked in the safe and undisturbed until 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning August 25.
The owner later expressed their protective attitude toward the globe, and admitted the great reluctance to even let the globe out of their possession to be studied, and the only reason was due to knowing and trusting Gabe Valdez and H. Eliason.
The point cannot be overstated, that the owner’s attachment to the globe is not the same as one would have toward other personal possessions such as a piece of jewelry.
There is an emotional component to it, one that encompasses true concern for it and a sense of responsiblity for the globe’s well being.
EXAMINATION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN ON AUGUST 22
The photographs taken on August 22 were entered into the computer and by using the Canon ZoomBrowser and the HP Photosmart programs, wre enlarged, and in some instances enhanced, with the HP Photosmart program to better define parts of interest in the pictures.
Adjusting the photograph’s color, brightness, contrast, saturation, and using other advanced editing options in the HP Photosmart program ofentimes enables invisible objects to become visible.
The photographs are honest representations and were not faked in any way.
Note that all of the points of interest discussed are located INSIDE the globe, EXCEPT the protrusion with circular lines mentioned above. (see photographs 2, 2A, 2B, field observation sketch).
Examination of the globe
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Three individuals were present for this daylong examination of the globe.
One of the three, being an interested bystander.
The project began at 9:00 a.m. and continued without break until 3:00 p.m.
75 photographs were taken by one individual during the day long examination process.
The protrusion with circular lines (photograph 2, 2A, 2B)
With all three individuals observing, the globe was removed from the locked safe box.
The first step was going to be orienting the globe in the vertical by holding the globe so that the protrusion with circular lines would be at the top.
While watching the globe being turned in search of the lines, it became evident that the protrusion with circular lines seen in photograph #2 was no longer there.
The protrusion with circular lines was no longer there.
It had disappeared leaving no trace of ever being on the globe.
Eight photographs were taken from various angles to verify the absence of lines.
See sheets #18-19, and the section Photographed on indexed pedestal.
Since the only place the globe had been for three days was in the tissue box inside the locked safe box, whatever happened to those lines happened inside that locked safe.
Therefore alll minute dust particles from both were gathered and placed in an envelope for future examination.
The envelope is included with this summary.
In order to proceed with the examination process, a reference point was established with a piece of transparent tape and placed where it was suspected the protrusion with circular lines had been.
No indication was ever found relative to the original location of the protrusion with circular lines.

Albuquerque woman puts her soul for sale on eBay
Actually, she is not the first to sell her soul on ebay. There was at least one man a few years ago that tried the same thing, not sure if it ever sold.
An Albuquerque woman has something for sale on eBay that most of wouldn’t even consider selling at any price. It’s her soul.
You can find just about anything for sale on eBay, from an ashtray for a 1959 DeSoto to a plaster bust of President Chester A. Arthur – but a human soul? We believe it to be a first.
Bids start at $2,000 for the soul of Lori N., and so far nobody has made one. But there have been a lot of hits and that’s encouraging to Lori.
She was a passenger in a car struck by a drunk driver in 2007. Lori was in a coma for three weeks, and woke up suffering from a stroke, a broken hip, broken pelvis, leg, collarbone, sternum, ribs, a collapsed lung. On top of all that she lost a breast.
Lori was a freelance writer who cannot write much any more. She gets by on part-time inventory work and makes jewelry. Lori figured since her body is pretty much shot, why not market her soul?
“What I’m gonna deliver is the opportunity for someone to save my soul,” Lori told KOB Eyewitness News 4. “They can save it through prayer, they can save it through conversion. They’re also gonna get a certificate detailing the white and black marks on my soul.”
Sort of a spiritual Carfax – the good along with the bad. Lori admitted that her eBay ad is a cry for help.
“I guess you could say that. I’m at the point now, I’m tired. I don’t feel good. I’m near the end of my rope. I really am.”

Mutilated cow found at San Ildefonso
San Ildefonso Pueblo tribal police are investigating the mutilated corpse of a cow found late Sunday evening.
Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies were the first to respond to a call near El Rancho, according to Maj. Ken Johnson, before handing the investigation over to the pueblo.
“The cuts on the cow were inconsistent with an animal attack,” Johnson said. He would not comment more on the injuries the animal suffered.
Gov. Terry Aguilar of San Ildefonso Pueblo also wouldn’t comment on the investigation or the animal’s injuries. Aguilar said the carcass was found near the exterior boundaries of the pueblo, but he would not give a specific location.
