A Thunderbird Photo?
Once again I find myself stepping out a bit from my NorCal confines to bring to you a tale about a giant bird who supposedly haunted SoCal in the late 1800’s, until later purportedly relocating to Arizona (another fine LOWFI state) where it was reportedly shot down by a bunch of ranchers.

Purported photo of the “Tombstone” Thunderbird. Too good to be real?
Here is a link about the tale of the Tombstone Thunderbird.
In a recent Arizona LOWFI post our own Thomas Cosgrove explored the myth that might be much more than that!

Do you have a link to a hirer-res version of the “Tombstone Thunderbid” image?
Higher resolution I mean.
That’s all I got…
Hey! Thanks, Adam!
I’ve been following this tale for a while. Believe it or not, more photos crop up every decade or so. Mostly faked, these hoaxes draw upon the Native Amerind legends told by those whose people may very well have lived with these creatures. Just like the sightings today in Texas, Oregon, the Appalachians,Adirondaks,Missouri Badlands, etc.
A good link to the Tombstone story is here: http://www.truewestmagazine.com/stories/tombstone_s_flying_monster/769/2/
Also, Loren over at Cryptomundo(www.cryptomundo.com) has tons of info. It is rumored that Loren keeps a thunderbird rehab sanctuary behind the Museum. But that’s another story…
