Rabbit Love

A Portland, Oregon woman was arrested (again) for her obsession with rabbits. Oregon woman obsessed with rabbits arrested again Miriam Sakewitz, aka “the bunny lady” was under a court order disallowing her from owning animals. In 2007 she was ordered not to be within 100 feet of a rabbit. She ignored that court order, and was found in her hotel room with several rabbits in:

a hotel in the Portland suburb of Tigard after an employee reported finding rabbits hopping around in her room.

Sakewitz was found guilty of animal abuse and neglect, when police found:

nearly 250 rabbits in her home, including about 100 dead ones in freezers and refrigerators.

For some reason, the woman was not in jail, which made it all the easier for her to break into where the surviving rabbits were kept, stealing back some of the rabbits. Later, authorities found eight live rabbits, two that did not survive, and 130 rabbits at a “nearby horse farm.”

Bizarre Death News From Oregon

Morbid, tragic and very weird news from Oregon.

Swine Flu Deaths
Following the Swine Flu Signals, we find another death attributed to the Swine Flu, the first one in Oregon. As I commented in a recent post on my blog Trickster Northwest, authorities insist swine flu deaths are not cause for alarm, since there are not as many as “regular” flu, and, victims have other ailments that facilitate deaths from swine flu. “Common ailments” as one put it. For some reason however, these “common” ills are not revealed, as this case out of Wisconsin a few days ago:

Milwaukee Health commissioner Bevan Baker would not release any details. . .except to say that the person was an adult who had a common underlying health condition that he would not specify.”

In Marion County Oregon, a woman died from swine flu; her overall health however contributed to her death:

Oregon has recorded its first death from swine flu, a Marion County woman who had multiple underlying health conditions, state officials said Monday.

The unidentified woman died Sunday after being hospitalized for eight days, state officials said.

The woman’s other health conditions had “placed her at high risk for infection and complications,” the agency said.

Those “other health conditions” are not listed. Her death makes for the 28th death from the flu in the U.S., according to the article.

A macabre and tragic story out of Hillsboro, Oregon: A woman told neighbors she was pregnant (she wasn’t), placed baby items on her lawn, murdered a pregnant woman and cut the infant from her womb. Both the woman and her baby died:

A pregnant 21-year-old newcomer to Oregon who was found dead in a crawl space of a suburban home had been cut open and the infant delivered from her womb, investigators said Monday.

It couldn’t be determined whether the son of Heather Snively, in the last trimester of pregnancy, died before or after he was removed from the womb, the Washington County sheriff’s department said in a statement.

A 27-year-old Beaverton woman, Korena Roberts, has been charged with murder in Snively’s death. Police said she tried to claim the baby as her own. She appeared in court Monday but did not enter a plea.

A medical examiner said Monday that Snively had died of homicidal violence: “blunt force” and “sharp force” injuries.
