A Walk in the Masonic Cemetery: Ghosts or Camera Glitch?

One of my favorite places to walk around here is the Masonic cemetery. It’s an old cemetery with a lot of local history, and a group of volunteers that work very hard to preserve the integrity of the cemetery (plant life, trails, history, signs, grave markers, etc.) and keep it available to the public. There is a mausoleum as well, which is open to the public once a month. We went up there today to walk around.

I took a lot of photographs and even brought my recorder along in case I was lucky enough to get any EVPs (which didn’t happen. I did feel two slight “buzzy” feelings I get when in the presence of spirits, but didn’t feel that when I was inside the mausoleum, though I did get that feeling very strongly during the opening and dedication of the mausoleum a few years ago.) One odd thing happened when we saw this grave; we were both struck by the lovely simplicity of the marker and the grave.

Jim sitting on bench at grave marker

I joined Jim and we were sitting there, talking about how nice a spot it was, how we both liked the marker and the appearance of a natural piece in that setting. I started to take pictures of the marker when this happened:

I said “Look what’s happening to the camera” and the images in the window were going crazy with color and jumping around. It isn’t just that the images turned out this way, while I was just holding the camera the images in the window were jumping around and I couldn’t make it stop. I just started taking pics anyway to see what, if anything, would happen.

Here’s the same marker appearing normally

Possibly supernatural experience, who’s to say. But it could also be a camera glitch. It’s a cheap camera, and if you notice in the first photo of Jim, the flowers seem almost psychedelic in color. Camera on its last legs, or spirit communication. Either way nice effect.

Local Article on OSS, McKenzie River Bigfoot Footage

Local newspaper, Eugene’s Register Guard, has an article on Bigfoot by human interest columnist Bob Welch, on Bigfoot, Toby Johnson’s 2nd annual OSS (Oregon Sasquatch Symposium), the McKenzie River Bigfoot footage, and Oregon Bigfoot researcher Cliff Barackman. Read it here: Anglers feed saga of Bigfoot.

Welch is not a believer, but has written columns in the past about Bigfoot researchers. He’s nicer about it now; I remember a column he wrote years ago where he was downright insulting. Something about anyone who thinks Bigfoot is real is a lunatic.

Speaking of the OSS, I went to the one last year, but won’t be attending this year. Someday I’ll make it to Ike’s Pizza for the weekly Bigfoot meeting.

Elvis in Florence

The coastal town of Florence in Oregon has its Elvis brush with fame:
Elvis enjoyed the small town atmosphere of Florence back in the day’

All fans here in Oregon would be remiss if we did not acknowledge this 75th anniversary of Elvis’s birth this year and, sadly, his passing on Aug. 16, 1977,” said Dave Masko, coordinator for the special Elvis tribute at the Florence Events Center on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935 and was the most popular American singers of the 20th century. A cultural icon, he is widely known by the single name ELVIS. He is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King.”
“Another reason why I and other fans want to produce this special Elvis tribute event here in Florence is Elvis often visited Oregon and even said he liked ‘Florence very much,’ “explained Masko of the last time the King visited Florence after a Nov. 26, 1976, Portland concert.

“There are a lot of stories we’ve heard about Elvis’s last Oregon concert tour that took place just a year before his death. One story has him walking the Florence beaches after his Portland concert to ‘clear his head,’ after a long tour,” Masko explained.
In addition, Elvis’s close friend Red West said in a TV interview at the time “how Elvis enjoyed the small town atmosphere of Florence back in the day.”

And I had my own brush with Elvis, as I recently wrote about for UFO Mystic: My Claim to UFO-Hollywood Fame.

Fish From Space

The Anomalist featured a link today from the Forgetomori blog: A Fishy “Space Monster.” The post is from November, and shares the following:

Mikhail Gershtein, from St. Petersburg, Russia, sent me the “beautiful” alien scan above, from James Moseley’s Saucer News, Vol14 N4, 1967-68.

It’s a “’Space Monster’ allegedly found recently in Russia by a farmer named Vasily Dubichev”. The source for such spectacular story? “The Feb 26 edition of the National Examiner”. Not exactly (or perhaps exactly) where you would expect this kind of news to come from.

The image from Saucer News reminded me of the 2007 story, also from Russia, about an “alien fish” found by Russian fisherman. I wrote about it for UFO Digest in February of 2007: Squeaking Alien Eaten: UFOs and High Strangeness in Rostov, Russia:

According to the account in Pravda, fisherman in Rostov, Russia, caught a strange “shark-looking” creature. Images of the weird creature were taken with a cell phone. Then they ate it. The logic being, in part anyway, that they weren’t “scared” of the creature, so saw no reason not to eat it. It was quite delectable, too, according to one of the fisherman.

In typical Trickster fashion, where odd coincidences and relationships exist in the land of anomalies and UFOs, we find that Rostov, and the surrounding areas, have seen its share of UFOs and strange creatures.

Picture of the “alien” found in Russia

Rostov, Russia has its share of UFO sightings and related events, going back decades. (Rostov is in the North Caucasus region, and borders the Vorenezh region, also Ukraine.) Any internet search will turn up lots of interesting cases. Undoubtedly many of the UFOs seen were, and are, military objects from within Russia as well as outside the country. But overall, there are a high number of UFO cases that occurred in the Rostov region. A random and short sampling:
Liudmila Goryacheva filmed a UFO in Rostov; the sighting was picked up by the Rostov and Moscow news agencies. The sightings continued for a month.(Flier’s Files)

But probably the most well known case is the September 27, 1989 Voronezh, Russia entity and UFO sighting. Several children saw a nine foot, three eyed-entity, accompanied by a robotic being of some kind. The UFO landed just outside the city of Voronezh, and, like something from The Day the Earth Stood Still, the alien shot a weapon at one of the witnesses. This incident is problematic in many ways, but it is clear something very weird and highly unusual happened. In some ways it reminds me of Marian apparitions, witnessed by children, with accompanying high strangeness.

Following the bad vintage monster movie theme, I found the monster from the 1958 movie It Conquered the World similar to the Russian alien fish. Lots of fun clips on You Tube: It Conquered The World

The monster in the movie looks a lot like the Russian fish ‘alien” — couldn’t resist.

Mechanical Voices, Aliens and Mothman: Shared Source?

(Posted earlier today on my Mothman Flutterings blog)

From the blog Strange Planet, a fascinating post about the author’s experiences involving mechanical voices, where he describes hearing at 3:00 a.m. (a time noted for being a kind of UFO/paranormal, magical time, as he notes) a very strange sound

Approximately two months ago, I awoke in the middle of the night, roughly within the magical 3am hour (That in itself is worthy of more study, as it always seems to be at that particular hour. But I won’t veer off course here). What I began to hear, was in fact, as best I can describe, the sound of a LARGE ‘mechanical and metallic’ bird(?) outside of my window. I was stunned by this sound, but not afraid. I didn’t even feel the urge to look, to be honest. I just paid attention to the sound itself. It was fascinating. For the better part of ten minutes, it would ’squawk’ several times, take a break for about 30 seconds, then resume the vocalization. I heard it that one night, and never again. If I were to match the scope and size of this ‘bird’ with the size of the sound, this thing would’ve been 8ft. tall. Better I not look after all.

He goes on to write about synchronicity; contacts with others experiencing similar things, and some of what he’s discovered via research, past experiences, and the movie The Fourth Kind.

What struck me as interesting was the immediate “mothy” vibe I got from reading this account. Even though there is no mention of Mothman or indication of any Mothman phenomena, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Mothman. There is the bird like imagery of this encounter of course, but I thought of the electronic voices Keel described in The Mothman Prophecies.

Ed Walters, author of The Gulf Breeze Sightings, described hearing weird electronic or metallic voices outside his bedroom windows at night in connection with his UFO experiences.

I was also reminded of Greg Taylor’s article Her Sweet Murmur, in DarkLore volume 1, which explores the rushing, roaring, bell clanging/chiming sounds many (including myself) experience during esoteric events. These episodes appear diverse and often unconnected from each other; UFOs, BVM (Blessed Virgin Mary) appearances, Mothman, Bigfoot or other crypto sightings, aliens, OOBEs, etc. but, Taylor asks, is there a common source from where these entities emerge? These strange sounds of clicking, clacking, singing, bells and the like are shared by fringe phenomena; possibly pointing to the idea they are related. UFOs, aliens, abductions, contactees, Bigfoot weirdness, BVM sightings, MIBS, fairies, maybe they are kaleidoscopic manifestations of the same thing.
HC-website_small

As far as Mothman goes, Mothman wasn’t, or isn’t, an isolated and specific event. There’s a whole high strangeness context enveloping Mothman: UFOs, MIBS, telepathic messages, OOBEs, electronic voices, premonitions, heavy dreams laden with messages and communications, curses and legends, synchronicities and a thread of violence that trails Mothman. This is not to say Mothman itself is violent, or responsible for the aura of violence connected with the phenomena, but a response to it.

Return to Conspiracy Park

At both ends of the Greenway Bridge at Skinner’s Butte Park in Eugene, a message is spray painted on the ground: You Google It! NWO Order Plan.

I wrote in a previous post that not far from the bridge, on the outside of a wooden fence surrounding a house, there was a banner with a similar message, but it’s long gone.

Also found, in the same area, this sticker on a light pole not far from the bridge; kind of between the fence and the bridge:

It’s the best I could do, the sticker was pretty high up on the pole. The verbiage on the sticker talks about electronic harassment from microwaves, mind control, ELF waves, etc. and how this mind control and electronic harassment is all around us.

About a week later, I was walking in my neighborhood, which is about a mile from the above mentioned park and bridge. Just around the corner from my house this was posted on a pole:

Last Sunday I was walking past the Greenway Bridge again. About a mile, maybe less, from the Greenway Bridge was this sign stuck to a support under the bridge further down (lots of bridges in the area! They cross the Willamette River.):

Underneath the second bridge.

I’ve been noticing these signs in the area for over a year. A couple of nights ago, the local news had a short segment on these signs. Some neighbors in the area are “upset” because the signs are offensive. Apparently someone, and I suspect someone else not the original sign maker, sprayed swastikas on some of these signs. I haven’t come across any with swastikas. The news said the signs were publicity for “a movie.” I’m not so sure about that, it seems like a strange explanation, especially when no title was given or reason why they came to that conclusion. Hand lettered signs on cheap paper stuck to bridge supports, telephone and light poles; hand painted banners on flimsy paper stuck to wooden fences — doesn’t seem like much of publicity campaign.

I couldn’t find anything on-line about this from any of the local news outlets. I’m not sure which local news it was either, since they’re all the same and I switch back and forth. The short segment ended with the warning that it is illegal to affix any kind of flyer or poster, etc. to city property such as telephone and light poles.

Twlight locations

The popular film Twilight, from the equally popular book, was filmed in Oregon and Washington state. I haven’t had a chance to read the books yet, but plan to, though I don’t think I’ll see the movie; seems too young and commercial for my tastes. I’ll probably end up watching it on television some late night. . .

I am a vampire fan however, and loved the Anne Rice books, as well as the movie made from her series. I’m a huge fan of the HBO series True Blood, also taken from a book series. (new episodes begin in June.)

One of the scariest vampire films: The 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire with John Malcovich and William Dafore. (and Eddie Izzard!)
