Did you know that perhaps the most popular song of all time, “Yesterday,” came to Paul McCartney in a dream? Dreams often function as mediators between the unconscious — where unfathomable mysteries seem to cook and coagulate — and consciousness. If we pay attention to the messages in dreams, we may give birth to unexpected and exciting ideas. Dreams can bring valuable insights as well. Sometimes, dreams seem to access the future, as in Abraham Lincoln’s dream of his death just before he was assassinated. We shall discuss both actual and legendary dreams that have given rise to significant changes, both personal and social. We shall also discuss verified dreams that have been precognitive or prophetic.
How about you? Have you had any creative or precognitive dreams that you would like to discuss? Meredith Mitchell, PhD received his doctorate in 1967 and trained at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, receiving certification as a Jungian analyst in 1974. He served as president of the L.A. Jung Institute, conducted private dream workshops in his home for 30 years, and taught myths and fairy tales at UCLA in addition to maintaining a full private practice. Several years ago, this lifelong resident of Los Angeles moved with his wife moved to Georgetown, Texas. |

I had a totally remarkable dream occurrence today which is probably why I clicked on this thread. This is what happened. I woke up this morning having had a bizarre dream about some creatures I saw in a park. One was a kangaroo/insect like creature that we were observing jumping around and then a large pink skinned creature with a human face. It had kind of sparse hair and it was looking at me with a blank expression. Its face was that of a man except very round eyes. But no expression. It had an extra eye on an appendage at the back of its neck that could look around if the creature happened to be occupied looking down or something. It had a tail and 4 legs. It seemed to exude urine through its skin even though I could see it had a penis. Very freaky. Anyway I woke up and put it in the dream journal on my bedside table with a few drawings. Then I went to work and forgot all about it. Later I thought to email my daughter at college to see if her internet was working(problematic lately)As I hit the send button, the phone rang and it was my daughter who had been planning on phoning me later but suddenly thought she should phone right then! Ok. So she is talking about this and that and something reminds me of the dream and I am picturing the man faced creature so I say hold on I just remembered this dream and I have to tell you. I start describing it and she says hold on,NO WAY, last night I was making a drawing of a creature with a mans face that has light pink skin and a kangaroo tail. She emailed me the drawing and I believe that I had a dream about the drawing which she had been making to illustrate a poem that she is planning on giving to her dad. I told her I would make a drawing of what I saw so we can compare. Her drawing was from a different viewpoint. I am just gobsmacked! I am going to go make that drawing. I have a very quick sketch of it from 6am but it is 8:30 pm now and I still can picture it vividly. Anyway-thank you for inviting some dream sharing on this spectacular dream day!
I was telling my friend that i believe that hallucination are just like dreams only projected and if we can understand dreams we can have a better insight on mental disorders associated with hallucination. just my thoughts but i need to do some research that confirms or refutes my thoughts.
I would like to know if you have any books on signs shapes and colors that can help me desifer my dreams?
Howdy Jason.
